Nominated For Mystery Blogger Award 2020!

Well this is a rare treat. I’ve been nominated by Geeknabe, also known in Leth’s Lounge as Nabe-Chan, for the 2020 Mystery Blogger Award! Apparently, this is a super secret award that only the rarest of the rare get! Or maybe it’s like a blog chain and it’s pretty common. I don’t care, no one ever nominates me for anything, so this was a really nice surprise.

What is the Mystery Blogger Award?

The Mystery Blogger Award was created by one Okoto Enigma. They created it “because there are a lot of amazing blogs out there that haven’t been discovered” and “most of these blogs deserve recognition.” Once nominated, there are some rules that need to be followed, and as I am in it to win it I’m gonna go for broke on them. The first rule is to have the award logo on the blog (see above) and the second is to list the rules, which is really convenient because it will make it easier to check them off as we go and you, the reader, will understand what they are!

THE RULES:

1.) Put the award logo/image on your blog
2.) List the rules.
3.) Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
4.) Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
5.) Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
6.) You have to nominate 10 – 20 people
7.) Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
8.) Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify)
9.) Share a link to your best post(s)

OK so we got the first two out of the way, time to thank Nabe-chan! Nabe-chan is an Oriental writer (I had to edited it, I’m not suppose to say from which country she comes from) who coded her blog from stats. She likes JRPG games, fantasy works, and tofu. (Seriously – it’s in her About page.) I guess nabe is romanji for 鍋 and 鍋 is like a hotpot which is a Chinese cooking method, prepared with a simmering pot of soup stock at the dining table, containing a variety of East Asian foodstuffs and ingredients. So that’s kind of cool. Check out her blog and say hello!

Then I need to mention the creator of the award but I have no fucking clue who they are outside of the link I provided above so fuck them. Fuck them so hard. You think you’re special because you created an award that links to your blog so that others would check you out? You think I’m not on to you and your plan to generate traffic? I’m on to you, asshat. I’m gonna steal your idea and create my own freaking award. Watch me.

Three things about yourself:

1.) I’m really bad at coming up with things about myself.

2.) I’m not very fond of sharing stuff about myself.

3.) You can’t trust half of the stuff I say about myself anyways.

That was easy!

But if you’re new to this blog, hi, you know my online as S Selcouth, the S means a thing but don’t worry about it, in real life you might known me as Timothy, I’m me and that’s not a great thing but what can you do?

So now I have to nominate 10 to 20 people. The literal fuck. No, I ain’t nominating anyone. It’s my award now. What are they going to do, take this award away from me? They can’t. They can’t take it from me. It’s mine now. That will take care of 7 and 8 as well.

Hey, did Nabe ask me any 5 questions? I guess I had better go check.

Ah shit, that blogger did. OK, well let’s go for broke. I gotchu, Pikachu. Let’s see what your questions are…

1.) What are your thoughts about the paranormal?

I used to be pretty involved with different paganism and occult stuff as a late teenager and young adult, but then I had to do this thing called MAKING MONEY TO SURVIVE and it’s funny how much you stop giving a damn about spirits and spirituality when you have to take care of a family. I kind of want to reconnect to it? But I’m so damn cynical now. I am a bitter old man. So sad.

2.) What anime, manga and gaming story that really stuck with you?

So I try to follow Korean cartoons but there’s this weird place where I don’t feel I’m the target demographic for a lot of shows coming out and it’s hard to find stuff that resonates with me. I have a top 5 list of shows, and I’m trying to read more novels, but it’s not always easy. That said, Welcome to the NHK was the first show I watched that directly dealt with a main character suffering from mental illness and the arc where he decides to play an MMO (that was clearly inspired by Final Fantasy 11) to make money inspired me to walk away from the game (although I did return for 90 days). I don’t feel like the main character and I have the same energy or the same problems, but it was refreshing seeing such a broken character trying to do the best he could even if “the best he could” was darkened by his own perceptions on things. It wasn’t a happy show, even if in a way it had a happy ending (unlike, perhaps ironically, the light novel and manga, which did not have a happy ending at all.)

3.) What is the sexiest and least sexy name?

There’s a lot more to what is sexy and isn’t sexy than names. I mean, I’m sure there are some men’s names that wouldn’t turn me on, but it isn’t like there are names out there that make me feel faint to the touch and weak at the knees. Let’s look at personality, let’s look at body types, let’s look at interactions. “A rose with any other name would smell just as sweet” I believe the saying goes. That’s from Romeo and Juliet, a Shakespearean story about listening to your god damned parents or else everyone around you dies.

4.) What are your plans for your blog?

I’m not sure. I’ve pivoted into reviewing books I’ve read, which is kind of neat and refreshing, but it’s taking over the blog at the moment and I feel a lot of pressure just to read stuff so I can review it here. I don’t think anyone really cares about my book opinions, which means for traction and traffic I need to ensure I’m either reviewing books that are really good, or books that are absolutely god awful. It’s kind of frustrating, really. But I’m gonna keep at it. This is my way of being heard.

5.) What is your favorite trait about yourself?

I am not a great person. Let’s not mince words here. But you know what, hit me when I’m manic and I’ll have all sorts of belief about how amazing I am. Maybe. Probably. I like how I’m not on fire burning to death right now, that’s a good trait. I dunno. I need to be better.

And now, as part of the reward I need to share a link to my best post. But I’m still not sure what that is! Just check out the blog, all my best posts and my worst posts are all together. I still try to post twice a week so check it out, see if anything catches your fancy.

Again Nabe-chan, thank you so much for nominating me. <3 I'll try to continue to by mystery blogging person. OH NOES I ANSWERED THE WRONG QUESTIONS

So apparently I answered the wrong questions. It’s okay Nabe-chan, I got you! The correct questions were:

1.) The red pill gives you the ability to enter any fiction world there is. The blue pill gives you the ability to make any fiction world a reality. Pick a pill, choose a world, and tell us why!

I steal both pills and sell them to pay off all of my debts. I live a happy life that may not be luxurious but ensures I don’t have to worry about being homeless or hungry.

2.) You are given the chance to choose any fiction you love into a live-action TV series. Pick one, and who would you choose to star in it?

I choose Supernatural, because it’s kind of god awful but also kind of amazing it’s run 15 seasons and now it can run forever! Alternatively, I write some fanfiction about Leth and his server and now it has the Live Action treatment! Leth is played by David Tennant. I am played by Steve Buscemi.

3.) What’s the best book (fiction or non-fiction, it doesn’t matter) you’ve ever read?

I am so fucking drunk right now, you don’t even know.

4.) What’s your favourite movie of all time?

My spellchecker says that it’s spelled favorite and I don’t have a favorite movie per se. I mean, as a rule, I don’t usually watch the same movie twice? I saw The Titanic in movie theaters back in the day and laughed at the scene where the eponymous ship cracks in half and a guy falls and hits one of the smoke stacks. In the movie theater. That was pretty embarrassing. And the only movie I’ve ever walked out of without finishing it was Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. But I don’t have like, a favorite movie I return to or anything?

5.) Will you try a boba tea hotpot?

What the hell is that I don’t even know but I’ll tell you what you tell me where I can get one and I will try one for you. You shared a picture but looking at it I have no freaking clue. What is that. How do you eat it. These aren’t questions these are OBSERVATIONS.
